Cabin Talk support
How can I help?
Brent Gaddis provides support for Cabin Talk through the monitored gaddisapps@icloud.com address. Cabin Talk support covers nearby and internet-relay conversations, invitations, permissions, encrypted backups, and removal of local app data. Email gaddisapps@icloud.com with the app version, device and OS version, the connection mode you were using, and a description of what happened. Do not send group secrets, recovery material, private message contents, or unredacted personal information.
Common questions
Why is a nearby or internet conversation not connecting?
Keep Cabin Talk open on the participating devices and confirm the invitation was accepted for the correct group. Nearby mode also needs Local Network permission and compatible network or peer connectivity. Internet relay depends on iCloud/CloudKit availability and delivery may be delayed; it is not an emergency or safety-critical communication service.
Why can I not scan an invitation or add a photo?
QR scanning needs Camera permission. Adding a photo uses Apple's system photo picker, so choose the image again if access was cancelled. Cabin Talk removes ordinary image metadata from a selected image before sending it, but you should still review the visible image itself before sharing.
What happens when I erase Cabin Talk data or delete an iCloud backup?
Erasing local data removes this device's local Cabin Talk state. It cannot recall copies already delivered to another participant. An optional private iCloud backup remains until it is replaced or you use the app's Delete iCloud Backup control. Public relay cleanup uses a delivery window, but server records may persist longer when CloudKit permissions prevent one device from deleting a record created by another.
