Scene and media information
VirtualCam can store imported backgrounds, avatars, images, scene definitions, captions, tickers, overlays, camera state, and related preferences locally. The app and system camera extension share the state and rendered output needed to provide the virtual camera.
Local processing and receiving apps
Scene composition and stored scene information remain local to your Mac. When you select VirtualCam in a conferencing, recording, or streaming app, that receiving app and its service can process, transmit, record, and retain the output under their own terms.
System extension and selected files
The macOS camera extension provides output to apps you authorize by selecting it as a camera. You choose media to import. Imported content can include personal images, text, or identifying information, so use content you have the right and consent to present. macOS manages approval and registration of the extension.
Retention and your controls
VirtualCam Pro stores scenes, imported media, captions, overlays, and settings locally on your Mac. Delete imported items and scenes with the controls available in the app, or remove the app and its data to clear remaining local state. Deactivating the camera extension by itself may not remove the app's stored files. Recordings or screenshots created by receiving apps or meeting participants remain outside VirtualCam Pro.
Website analytics
VirtualCam Pro's page on brentgaddis.com uses first-party, aggregate website analytics operated through Cloudflare. The site counts page views and allowlisted actions such as opening an App Store, support, or privacy link; it also keeps coarse source, country, device, browser, operating-system, engagement, performance, and reliability totals. It does not store raw event rows, visitor or session identities, IP or hashed-IP identifiers, cookie or local-storage visitor IDs, full user agents, full referrers or URLs, form contents, arbitrary text, or a person's raw click history. Country and source cells below five are suppressed, and aggregates are retained for up to 24 months. Cloudflare still processes request and network metadata as necessary to deliver and protect the site. These website measurements are separate from the app.
